The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is a common entrance examination for all students who wish to study MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc, in government and private institutions in India and also to study MBBS in Abroad.

NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is responsible for all entrance tests for admissions to medical colleges in India including AIIMS and JIPMER.

NEET is conducted in 2 phases- Phase 1 and Phase 2. Candidates who appeared for the first phase can also appear for the second phase given that they have to give up their NEET Phase 1 score. 

NEET-UG 2021 Eligibility

  1. Admissions for NEET-UG 2021, a student must attain at least 17 years of age or must be born on/before December 31, 2004.
  2. Must have appeared in 12th standard and scored at least 50% for General Category, 45% for PwD, and 40% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST, in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects along with English.
  3. The upper age limit to apply for NEET is 25 years of age.

NEET-UG 2021 Exam Pattern

The paper for NEET-UG 2021 exam will have a total of 180 questions on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Each of the three subjects will be segregated into two sections- A and B. Section A will have 35 questions and are mandatory for students to answer each question. While section B will have a total of 15 questions which the students will have to answer only 10. The total hours to attempt all the questions will be 3 hours or 180 minutes, which gives the students 1 minute to attempt each question.

For every right answer, four marks will be allotted and for every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. However, there will be no allotment or deduction of marks for the unattempt questions.

Q: What is the registration date for NEET-UG 2021?
A: Registration for NEET-UG 2021 began on July 13, 2021. You can start applying now before the last date. The last date to apply for NEET-UG 2021 is August 06, 2021.

Q: When will NEET-UG 2021 be conducted?
A: NEET-UG 2021 will be conducted on September 12, 2021, Sunday.

Q: Who is eligible for NEET 2021?
A: Candidates born on/before 31, 2004, who have completed 12th standard with subjects consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology can apply for NEET-UG 2021. For more details, refer to NEET-UG 2021 Eligibility Criteria.

Q: Is NEET-UG conducted online?
A: No. NEET is conducted offline in pen and paper mode. Registrations for NEET are filed online.

Q: Do I need to qualify NEET for MBBS Abroad?
A: If you are an Indian Citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India, you need to qualify NEET to get admission to study MBBS Abroad.

Q: What is the marking system for NEET?
A: For every right answer, 4 marks will be allotted. For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. However, for unattempted questions, no mark will be allotted or deducted.

Q: After the registration, do I need to send a copy of the NEET Application form to NTA?
A: No, you don't need to send a copy of your application to NTA. The application for NEET-UG 2021 is completed online. However, you must keep a hard copy of your application form and payment receipt for future reference.

Q: How many times can I appear for NEET-UG?
A: There is no limit to the number of attempts you can make to appear for NEET-UG. You can appear for the NEET-UG exam as many times as you wish until you are 25 years of age. 

Q: What is the age limit for NEET-UG?
A: Candidates must have completed 17 years of age or will complete on/before December 31 of the year of admission to the first year Undergraduate Medical Course. 

The upper age limit for application to NEET-UG is 25 years as of the date of the examination. A 5-year relaxation is given to candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwBD candidates. 

Q: Is Aadhar Card mandatory for NEET application?
A: Aadhar Card has been made mandatory for NEET application except for candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, and Assam.
