Pre-Departure Checklist For MBBS Abroad For Indian Students

MBBS abroad is a life-changing experience for Indian students who will be moving to a completely different country to pursue their dream careers. Adapting to a new environment in terms of the cultures, languages, climates, cuisine, etc. is challenging for anyone moving to a new country for a purpose. There are certain preparations that Indian students have to make before leaving to study MBBS in abroad.

The ideal way to plan your six years of MBBS in a foreign country is by preparing a proper checklist to ensure you don’t leave anything behind.

Important Documents To Carry For MBBS Admission Abroad

Indian students moving to international countries to study MBBS abroad have to carry academic and personal documents to complete the procedure of their admissions at medical universities.

The list of documents includes:

  1. Certificates of Class 10th and Class 12th
  2. NEET scorecard
  3. Original passport and Visa
  4. Migration certificate
  5. 50 colored passport-size photographs
  6. Medical reports issued by the authorized labs
  7. Admission/invitation letter from the university
  8. The currency of the country you are moving to

Along with the original documents, students must also carry their photocopies.

Travel and Identity Proof Documents

As students will be traveling to another country, they need to carry travel documents and ID proofs for verification purposes.

  1. Air tickets
  2. Photocopy of Visa
  3. Photocopy of passport
  4. Aadhaar card

There are stringent baggage regulations at the airlines and luggage above the specified limits will attract higher fees. Most airlines only allow 46 kg of check-in baggage and 10 kg of cabin luggage. Having just one traveler bag and a small bag will expedite your airport clearance procedure without any payment of extra luggage charges.

The changes in the environment and food can make any student fall sick in their initial days at the medical institution. Therefore, it is mindful to carry medicines for fever, cold, cough, body pain, indigestion, headache, stomach pain, allergies, and vomiting.

If you are going to study MBBS in Russia or any other cold country, then you should always carry sufficient thermals with you. Extreme temperature changes can lead to sickness. So, don’t forget to carry sweaters, gloves, caps, body warmers, jackets, boots, etc. while you are going to study MBBS abroad.

Leaving your country without the necessary gadgets can cause inconvenience to you as you may face problems arranging them in a foreign country. Some of the most important gadgets to carry with you include a laptop and its charger; a mobile phone with a dual sim slot; headphones, a power bank, a pen drive, and a hard drive.

Stationery Items

As you are moving to study MBBS in abroad, keeping stationery items such as pens, pencils, diaries, etc. handy is always a great idea.

Foreign Currency

When you are going to study MBBS abroad from India, it is essential to carry the foreign currency of the respective country for transaction purposes. You can also carry internationally accepted debit and credit cards or foreign currency cards with you.

Indian students tend to carry grocery items along with them such as Indian spices, pulses, dry fruits, etc. that are difficult to find in foreign countries.

Personal Care Items

Personal care items like toothpaste, toothbrush, soaps, towel, shaving kits, hair oil, face wash, body lotion, moisturizers, comb, etc. must be carried to reduce the hassles of arranging them in a new country.

Going for education abroad is an exciting moment in any student’s life. Therefore, execute it in a well-planned manner using the above-mentioned checklist and have a great six years of your MBBS abroad.
