Due to the pandemic National Eligibility, cum Entrance Test has been postponed twice. A student who aspires to be a doctor in the future has gone to the Delhi High Court to grant her a one-time exemption from NEET 2020. She wants the court to direct the concerned authorities to provide her with some exemption. The MBBS course is about to start in Uzbekistan and she wants to pursue her MBBS degree from that country.
The Medical Council of India had given a gazette notification in the year of 2019 that NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) will be mandatory for all the students who want to study a medical degree in India and abroad. NEET is the common level medical entrance examination for all the MBBS aspirants both of MBBS in India and MBBS in Abroad.
The student has also approached the Medical Council of India before going to the High Court with her grievance. Justice V. Kameshwar Rao has given direction to the MCI as well as the consulate of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to consider the student’s petition within 3 weeks.
The student who has filed this petition wants to take admission in Bukhara State Medical Institute, Uzbekistan. The last date to apply for this university is the 20th of August. As the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is scheduled to be held on the 13th of September, she is worried that her one year will be wasted if she does not get admission to the abroad university she wishes to join.
The plea has been filed regarding her worries about her education. She wants only one-time exemption from the NEET, else she will have to wait for next year when again the admission process of that country will start. This petition is only for the requirement of not having to clear NEET 2020 if one wants to go for MBBS in abroad for the session of 2020-2021.
The current situation is not only affecting one student but every student who aspire to pursue higher studies. If NEET 2020 would be exempted for MBBS in Abroad, aspiring students will not have to wait for the next year or till the situation gets better to pursue their MBBS degree.
