NMC (National Medical Commission) Bill got Presidents Assent!

As informed by the Union minister, in the coming six to nine months, the Bill will come into action for medical education in the country with the name of the National Medical Commission. The Bill is supposed to replace the defunct Medical Council of India (MCI), which was functioning as per the Indian Medical Association (IMC) Act, 1956. The introduction of National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill will be counted as one of the biggest reforms in the sector of medical education As declared by the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Harsh Vardhan, the National Medical Commission Bill 2019 was signed by the President of India on Thursday, Aug 8, 2019, and it is a law now in the country.

This Bill will be responsible to ensure the quality of medical colleges is maintained. Every medical institute will be given a rating by the commission. The Bill will also be responsible for the registry of doctors as this will provide a precise figure of how many doctors are registered and are working at any given point in the country.
