Re- conducting NEET 2020?

Finally, after a long wait, NEET 2020 has been conducted successfully. As per the National Testing Agency, 80-90% of students have appeared for the examination. Also, the Union education minister Mr Ramesh Pokriyal tweeted and thanked all the chief ministers of the states for their efforts. On that date, India registered 95,000 coronavirus cases still NEET 2020 was conducted in a very safe manner. All the candidates who appeared followed the safety guidelines which were issued by the NTA.

Whereas many students did not give the examination due to safety concerns and then few missed the examination due to the transportation problem which caused the candidates to reach late at the exam center. There was a similar case, a student named Santosh Kumar Yadav a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar travelled 700 km to reach his exam centre which was in Kolkata but unfortunately, he was late by 10 minutes. Thus, a Plea seeking one more attempt at the JEE Main and NEET 2020 has been registered in the Supreme Court of India. Shashwat Anand who is a lawyer has also asked in his petition to take Suo moto cognizance of the report of a student who was not able to give the examination conducted by NTA just because of a 10 minutes delay. The petition is further seeking to direct the National Testing Agency to allow and make arrangements for the same to appear in such examinations. For many students 2020 was the last year to attempt these examinations. JEE Mains has been held on September 1-6th and the results have also been declared whereas NEET 2020s results are still awaited.

NEET and JEE are national level examinations for all the students who want to get into medical, dental or engineering courses. Conducting these examinations during the pandemic was difficult but somehow everyone made a lot of efforts and the purpose was served well. Whereas the students who have missed the examination should also get justice. Lets see what will be the result of this petition.
