High-level panel recommends equal number of MBBS, PG seats under 15th Finance Commission

All the under-graduate doctors in India would now be able to pursue their post-graduation degree that is MD by the year 2025. Only If the government agrees to a key recommendation by a high-level group under the 15th Finance Commission.

The panel consists of six members under AIIMS- Delhis director Dr. Randeep Guleria. The panel has suggested that the no. of UG and PG medical seats should be equal in the country in the coming five years. To date, there are 80,000 MBBS seats and only one-third post-graduate seats when compared to Under-Graduate seats. They also want to develop small courses on wellness clinics, basic surgical procedures, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesia, Eye, ENT. Etc.

The report is of 120 pages is now under the consideration of the government. The group also says that while undergraduates are taught in medical colleges. PG doctors also are trained in public and private hospitals without any medical college. It further adds that the faculty teaching in medical colleges ought not to be allowed to do private practice as this can hamper teaching and research

Medical Council of India Board of Governors decides to shift MBBS students of World College of Medical Science 

The students of the 2016 MBBS batch of world college of Medical Science and Research, Jhajjar, Haryana. Sitting on hunger strike as well as dharna are demanding their secure furture for medical education. The Medical Council of India Board of Governors in their last monthly meeting in 2019 has approved shifting all the students of MBBS 2016.

NEET 2020 is near, no coaching for Tamil Nadu government school students.

There are barely three months left for the NEET 2020, which is conducted for all medical seats in the but Tamil Nadu states free coaching classes for all the government school students are still suspended. This delay is affecting around 20,000 MBBS aspirants whose only hope is this free coaching. NEET 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on May 3rd, 2020.

Number of NEET 2020 applicants from Tamil Nadu decreases by 17%

The number of applicants applying for NEET 2020 from the state of Tamil Nadu has decreased by over 17%. Against an increase of 74,000 applications nationwide.

There are over 1.17 lakhs applications this year and there was 1.4 lakhs application in 2019. The first time a dip has been seen since 2016. As per teachers and counselors, this act is due to many reasons which can be the increased Cut-Off which proves to be tough for state board students, more repeaters get seats, and the lesser no. of seats in government medical colleges.

National Testing Agency has received maximum no. of registrations from Maharashtra and the state ranking second in the no. of registrations in NEET 2020 in Uttar Pradesh. There would be around 21 candidates who will be struggling for one single MBBS seat.
