The University is considered as one of the most ancient and Top Medial Universities in Prague, which is an ideal option for pursuing MBBS in Prague. It marked its presence in 1348 during the rule of the king Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV (the first Studium generale north of the Alps and east of Paris). The University quickly gained the international renowned status, begun with 4 faculties at that time- Theology, Liberal arts, Law and Medicine. The former name of the University was Charles-Ferdinand University (a name which persisted until 1918) & Czech University, then after acquiring the Independence, it was renamed as Charles University.

Charles University now relies on a mission of nurturing academic cooperation and to play an active role in a broad spectrum of European & Global Programmes.  It is the 5th most demanded University within the Erasmus+ Programme. Ranked as the Best Global Universities 2017 and elite by QS World Rankings 2018.

The University constitutes 300 students in graduate degree programmes, 20,000 students in Bachelor programmes, 20,000 in Master programmes and other. It has 35% non-academic staff and 65% of academic staff. The organizational structure of the University includes 17 faculties, 4 university institutes, 6 other units and 5 service facilities.

The University holds the recognition from Medical Council of India (MCI) and other international major councils. Charles University attracts students not only because of its long and eventful history but also because of the huge variety of programmes taught here, covering all major fields of human knowledge.

Medical education in the Czech Republic may be different from other countries. In the Czech Republic, high-school graduates enrol in a long-cycle Master’s degree programme of 5 or 6 years duration. After completing a Master’s degree, graduates may continue on to a PhD programme or enrol in a specialisation training programme, where a command of the Czech language is necessary.

Charles University accommodates its students in Charles University’s Dormitories (approx. CZK 80-180 per night, CZK 290 per night for high standard rooms). Not only this, University also provides an option of private housing to the students. The prices for private accommodation vary considerably according to size, occupancy, quality and location. 

As far as dining is concerned, then Indian food is also available for Indian students, which is again an added advantage.

  • Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic that is bisected by the Vltava River. It is counted as the 14th largest city in the European Union. The entire region was settled as early as the Paleothilic age.

  • Prague has a humid continental climate. The winters are relatively cold with average temperatures at about freezing point, and with very little sunshine
  • Prague is famous for its Old Town Square, Medieval Astronomical Clock, Gothic Churches and colourful baroque buildings.
  • Transportation in Prague is very organized. Prague has a tram system, buses, commuter S-trains, funiculars (cable tractions), six ferries, Prague Metro, Railway system. Prague is also served with Vaclav Havel Airport Prague.
