Dhaka National Medical College is the best government medical College providing MBBS in Bangladesh at an affordable cost. The University was founded in 1994. Formerly the college was known as the Dhaka National Medical Institute. The College was the part of the Non-cooperation movement of the Indian Sub-continent against the British, initiated by the INC & IML (Indian National Congress and Indian Muslim League) in the year 1925.
The movement encouraged people to boycott the institutions/Colleges established by the British and motivate them to establish their own institutions. Indians then decided to establish two medical schools- one in Kolkata and other in Dhaka City with the name of Dhaka National Medical Institute.
The first batch was started in 1994-1995 with 63 numbers of medical students. Till date, nearly 1502 doctors have successfully graduated from the College and are working in different parts of the world.
The duration of the MBBS program at Dhaka Medical National Medical College is of 5 years with a one-year mandatory internship after the completion of the final examination.
The College is a non-political and non-profitable organization working under the governance of the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh!
The College offers safe and comfortable accommodation to all its enrolled students. The College offers separate floors for the accommodation for international female students.
The rooms have all the mandatory amenities which are essential for a comfortable stay.
There is also a provision for the In-patients ward within the College premises to enable the students to learn better.
DNMC’s library is among the avant-garde libraries in Bangladesh as it has very comprehensive collections, a variety of services, equipped with the latest technology, professionally skilled manpower, user education, service marketing, etc. It has a rich collection of more than 6000 text and reference books with the latest edition, 25 local Journals and 3 International Journals of academic interest.
This entire collection plays the role of the backbone for all the research and development activities of the college. The library has the capacity to accommodate around 100 students at a time.
The College has 650 bedded multidisciplinary hospital complexes next to the academic building providing training to all the medical students during their internship phase.
