Gomel State Medical University (GSMU) is considered as one of the best institutions to pursue MBBS in Belarus because the university follows an advanced system of education. GSMU is the only university in Belarus where the medium of education is completely English which makes it a preferred choice for all the international students.

The establishment of Gomel State Medical University took place in 1990, in the city of Gomel, Belarus.

At present, the university has 3500 students with 600 highly experienced and qualified professors serving in 34 departments along with 5 research laboratories and 18 massive and well-equipped clinics and a central research library. Since its establishment, Gomel State Medical University has created more than 2000 doctors who are working across the globe.

All the degrees awarded by Gomel State Medical University are internationally recognized by various medical council bodies including MCI, SLMC, European Medical Council, ECFMG, GMC, UNESCO, AMC and is enlisted with WDOMS.

Gomel State Medical Universitys main campus is situated in the downtown of Gomel with 18 adjoining clinical bases which are spread across the entire city. GSMU has a vast clinical base which is considered as one of the best in Belarus. All the clinical bases are well equipped with the latest medical technologies that are helpful in the treatment and diagnosis of cardiology, immunology, endocrinology, oncology, ophthalmology, and various other health related diseases.

Accommodation

The university provides accommodation to all international students. The hostel rooms are well furnished and equipped with all the basic amenities required by the students. The rooms are available on the sharing basis of 3-5 students of the same gender. The canteen of the hostel also serves Indian food, which makes it a preferred choice for Indian students to pursue their MBBS in Belarus.

Students security is the primary concern of the university; therefore, the hostels are under constant surveillance of 24 hours.

Student Life

All the students at the university have access to the gym, library, swimming pool, sports complex facilities to maintain the flexibility of their physique.

In 2002, the student club was formed as a centre for cultural and educational activities. This club is helpful in enhancing the artistic and intellectual abilities of all the students. The main aim of the student club is to identify the young talented people and giving them an opportunity to showcase their abilities. It also helps the International students to get familiar with the local culture of Belarus and getting along with fellow students.

The city of Gomel is situated in the southern-eastern part of Belarus and is considered as one of the oldest and the largest city in Belarus.
The name of the city was originated from the Gomeuk stream which is the word of Finnish Origin, means Fast.
The city usually experiences a humid continental climate which refers to warm summers.
The main economic sectors of the city include: fuel, chemicals, timber, light industries, food processing, machine building, especially agricultural machinery, and steel and rolled metal production.
The city offers various major attractions such as the palace complex, Peter and Paul Cathedral, Trinity Church, Hunting lodge, Russian tavern and many more.
The public transportation system of Gomel consists of buses, trolleybuses, taxi services etc. The city is an important railroad hub in the southeastern part of Belarus, as it is situated midway on the Minsk-Kiev rail link.
