    The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Medical Council of India that is the MCI on Tuesday has submitted before the Kerala High Court that it would be impossible to allot NEET 2020 examination centre abroad this year. NEET 2020 is going to be held on July 26 this year.

    This submission as made by the NTA, as well as the MCI, is a response to public interest litigation seeking a direction to allot NEET exam centres in Gulf Countries.

    This test cannot be taken online. NEET examination is a pen and paper-based examination. So, it would be next to impossible to make any changes in the usual way of conducting this examination at this point, amid the pandemic.     On the other hand, students are protesting online for the postponement of the NEET 2020 examination due to the rising cases of coronavirus in the country. Parents are really worried about their childrens health. Students have taken over social media, demanding the postponement of NEET. Hashtags such as the #StudentsLivesMatter, #postponejeeneet2020, #HealthOverExams, #HealthOverNEETJEE are trending on Twitter these days.

    Approximately 15 lakh students have applied for NEET 2020 exam. To ensure social distancing, entry points, as well as the safe to and fro movement of students from their homes to exam centres, are surely going to pose a challenge for the government.

    NEET 2020 was scheduled to be held in May but it got postponed to July 26, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The HRD minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank interacted with the students digitally and informed them that the ministry will make any decision based on the welfare of the students. He also added that the students are the asset and the future of India and they are not going to compromise with their safety. Our sources from the HRD Ministry have informed that till date there has been no further decision made on the postponement of NEET examination but as per the situation of the country, there are chances that NEET 2020 might further be postponed.
