NEET-UG Latest News and Important Decisions

After the release of the NEET-UG 2021 results on October 30, 2021, there are some updates regarding the requests made by a few candidates. Out of the 16+ lakhs applicants, few candidates appeared for the NEET exam.

The latest report came from the Supreme Court regarding the re-examination request made by 2 candidates. On October 20, 2021, the Bombay High Court informed that the 2 candidates received mismatched test booklets and answer sheets and the invigilators did not rectify the mistakes when they pointed it out. The case was then brought to the Supreme Courts notice but unfortunately, after thorough speculation and consideration, the Supreme Court said No to the students request. It further said, 16 lakh students applied for NEET this year, and every year students will come forward and seek re-examination for one mistake or the other. If the direction to conduct re-examination for NEET-UG is provided, it will become a pattern.

Another update is regarding the permission of the Kerala High Court to verify the candidates NEET-UG 2021 OMR sheet and calculation sheet in the presence of the officials. Earlier this month, a candidate filed a petition seeking NTAs permission to provide her original OMR sheet and to re-evaluate her answersheets based on the provided answer key. The candidate confrimed that she had attempted more questions during the NEET exam than what appears on the OMR sheet. The court had decided to take this matter up on November 29, 2021, and the candidate is directed to appear before the court along with her parents.

Recently, another candidate filed a petition regarding the manipulation of her NEET OMR sheet. The decision is still pending for the same.

Lastly, on receiving requests from the candidates for not receiving the scanned OMR answer sheet through their email, the NTA has decided to provide an opportunity for the candidates to download their OMR answer sheet from the NTAs official website https://neet.nta.nic.in/. This opportunity will only be available for a short time. Therefore, candidates are requested to check and download their scanned OMR answer sheet from November 09, 2021 to November 14, 2021 (upto 09:00 P.M.).
