NTA Releases Clarification Regarding the NEET (UG) 2024 Results

In its latest public notice dated 6th June 2024, the National Testing Agency has released a press release to address the queries raised by the candidates regarding the NEET UG 2024 results declared on 4th June 2024.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2024 was held on 5th May 2024 across 4,750 centers in 571 cities (including 14 cities abroad) for more than 24 Lakhs students.

Key Points

  1. Cut-Off Scores: The increase in the cutoffs reflects the tougher competition this year. The average marks for qualified candidates rose from 279.41 in 2023 to 323.55 this year with a minimum score of 164 required in the general category owing to an increased number of registered candidates.
  2. Compensatory marks for the loss of time: A few candidates experienced disruptions during the exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) reviews the grievances and compensates 1,563 candidates for the loss of time based on their performance and established procedures. This resulted in scores ranging from -20 to a perfect 720 while maintaining the exam’s integrity.
  3. Number of top scorers: With more candidates taking the exam (around 24 lakh students in 2024 as compared to over 20 lakh candidates in 2023), there’s a natural increase in high scores. Additionally, a revision in the answer key for one physics question due to updated NCERT textbooks led to 44 candidates achieving 720 out of 720. At the same time, 6 students received a perfect score due to compensatory marks. The toppers are from various regions across the country.
  4. Transparency in Result Declaration: The National Testing Agency follows established procedures for result processing. NEET results were declared within 30 days while maintaining transparency by sharing information through various means, including admit cards, answer key challenges, and scorecards.
  5. Unfair Means Cases: The NTA has taken strict measures against unfair means and practices, including canceling candidature and debarment from future exams. They have filed cases against impersonators and are cooperating with police investigations. The NTA maintains no paper leak, and the exam integrity remains intact.

This press release by NTA clarifies the recent NEET UG 2024 results and assures students of the fairness and transparency of the examination process.
