The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination following reports of alleged irregularities in the exam process. The decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India to ensure fairness and transparency in national-level exams.
In its latest notification, NTA said that the matter was earlier referred to central investigation agencies on 8 May 2026 for verification and further action. After reviewing the reports and findings shared by the authorities, the agency decided that the current examination process could not continue.
NTA has now confirmed that NEET-UG 2026 will be conducted again on fresh dates. The revised exam schedule and admit card details will be announced soon through official NTA channels.
The Government of India has also handed over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed inquiry into the allegations related to the exam. NTA stated that it will fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all necessary documents and support.
To make things easier for students, NTA clarified that all application details submitted for the May 2026 exam cycle will remain valid for the re-exam. Students will not need to submit a fresh application form or pay any additional fee. The agency also said that the fees already paid by candidates will be refunded, while the new examination will be conducted using NTA’s own resources.
NTA has advised students and parents to follow only official announcements for updates regarding the new exam date and admit cards and avoid believing rumours or unverified information on social media.
For further assistance, candidates can contact NTA through the official helpline at neet-ug@nta.ac.in or call 011-40759000 and 011-69227700.
